Go Book for Kids with a Coupon Inside

Project Description

I wrote a Go book for kids, a fairytale about pirates. This is the first Go book for children in Russian.
A PDF version of the book is ready. The details of a printed version are currently being discussed with a publishing house.

Main idea: a coupon that comes with the book, granting the reader free access to a Go tournament. This would only work for new players, who are not in the ratinglist yet. Many Go clubs in Russia (from many cities, including Moscow) have agreed to accept players with the coupon, without them having to pay the entry fee.

Aim of the Project

We will not only get new Go players, but thanks to the coupons we will see new faces at our Go tournaments. They will play the first one for free, but if they like it, they will continue as regular tournament players and will pay standard entry fees.

Location

The effects will become visible in the European Go Database (EGD): new Go players from Russia - from real tournaments.

Timeline

PDF version: end of 2017 (done).
Paper version including the free coupon: coming soon.

Results

With 1000 new books we plan to attract at least 500 new players, who will use their coupons.

It's possible to translate this book and use the coupon idea in many other countries.

If we win the Iwamoto Awards, we can print this prize on the cover. I am also in the process of trying to get a "Recommended by the European Go Federation" statement/stamp from Martin Stiassny.
